In two decades at Heal the Bay, I’ve been fortunate to be part of numerous environmental victories. However, my 8-year-old daughter, Natalie, has a different perspective on success.
This morning, she screamed from the other room for me to come in. I walked in and she had a huge grin on her face as she excitedly pointed to the TV screen. A Heal the Bay sticker could be seen on a locker in a scene from the “Hannah Montana” show. In the eyes of Natalie, Heal the Bay had finally hit the big time.

Hannnah Montana is an enviromentalist! Who knew?
FYI–I’m the reason the Disney rep even got our HtB logo in the first place. We’re supposedly on some trash cans on the show too, though I’ve never watched an entire episode, so I can neither confirm nor deny this. When we got the ask, we just thought it would be cool to have a new generation of supporters see our logo on tv.
Turns out, it is cool!
